It’s unfortunate that something bad happened in the MPL PH scene. This incident happened to the Omega Esports team. The reason is, one of their players, Kelra, sexually harassed another pro player in Mobile Legends. This happened when Kelra streamed and issued a lot of unkind words to Belletron players and also to Ramella, IDONOTSLEEP or IDNS players.
Impressed the punishment given to Kelra was very light and unfair. Elra, who sexually abused her verbally, only got a sentence of two weeks. In addition there are also several other penalties such as severe warnings and material fines.
But indeed this is considered a bad thing from MPL PH, In fact, sexually harassing anyone can no longer be taken lightly. Moreover, Kelra is one of the big stars of the Philippine scene.
If this light punishment occurs, it may not deter the perpetrators. It is possible that the same thing will happen again to the less fortunate victims and be done by people from within the scene.
From the results of the investigation, Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas received the following penalties:
1. Suspension for Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas for two (2) weeks or fourteen (14) days starting from the first day of the MPL-Philippines Regular Season 8
2. Issuing a serious memorial to Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas and Omega Esports
3. The fine imposed on Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas
Kelra commits acts of sexual harassment but only gets light punishment !
This light punishment is actually very unfortunate even by MPL PH fans. Many think that Kelra received a punishment that is not comparable to only getting a sentence of 2 weeks and a small fine to Kelra.
As a pro player or a professional player who acts dishonestly and far from being professional, the two-week sentence is not a big deal for him and MPL PH. Remembering this feels bad for victims who can be mentally depressed.
The scene should provide a safe ecosystem for all parties regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. As a professional, players and other agents can behave as expected. Keep practicing, play wisely and don’t become a toxic player!
