Currently, if we talk about esports, it is undeniable that Team Secret is a team that is growing very rapidly. Starting from the “reject” team of EU players in Dota 2, until now Team Secret has become very massive. According to John Yao as CEO of Team Secret, they believe in Tencent and Riot for PUBG Mobile and Wild Rift thanks to the global game, broad demographic, continuously growing, and business-wise it is very appropriate to go there.

The development of Team Secret’s wing can also be considered ambitious because they are actively opening many divisions, including PC to mobile. Now, but interestingly, lately Team Secret is increasingly expanding its wings to SEA and mobile gaming.

Team Secret is starting to be active in PUBG Mobile and also Wild Rift where both are big games in the world.

Team Secret CEO Doesn’t Want To Enter Mobile Legends

John Yao responded to a question about why Team Secret didn’t go to Mobile Legends. He said that currently their team is not interested in ML because the market only exists in two countries.

I think it’s fair to say that if you are an organization that focuses on SEA, especially the Philippines and Indonesia, then you must have Mobile Legends. This is the biggest game in both countries in terms of viewership.

But if you’re eyeing other countries or global brands, right now it doesn’t make sense to jump into Mobile Legends considering their demographics. Not that it won’t jump in, but right now it just doesn’t make sense.

There is no doubt that in terms of viewership it is very large. But this high viewership is not that wide and only focuses on certain countries such as 80% of viewers from Indonesia and the Philippines.

He also appreciated Tencent and Riot thanks to PUBG Mobile and Wild Rift which are actively opening tournaments in various countries and as a global brand, this is certainly very good for the development of the game as well as the team.

John Yao also added that he doesn’t really care about high viewership, but whether the reach of the game is wide or not. As a global brand, Team Secret would definitely prefer to have a fanbase in many places rather than just one or two. Keep practicing, play wisely and don’t become a toxic player!
